Acanthus Leaf Scrolls on a Kershaw Shallot

This one turned out pretty good! The artwork took about 5 hours (but is reusable for future projects) and the engraving itself took about an hour. The engraving was split into four sections due to the different focus heights needed for the body VS the blade, with a separate quick job for the pocket clip. Due to the spring-loaded assisted opening blade (Kershaw’s “SpeedSafe” design) this knife was not fully disassembled as would normally be done; I wasn’t sure if I could put it back together without having extra pieces!

Framed acanthus leaf scroll pattern for the handle portion with cutouts around factory markings and screw holes. The blade section was done borderless with a large untouched area near the blade so the heat of the laser wouldn’t affect the hardness of the steel or future sharpening of the blade edge (it might be pretty, but it still needs to cut open Amazon boxes!).

The pocket clip was removed for the engraving on this side and done separately, as visible in this photo the clip got too much heat applied so it started to discolor. This can be polished out, but it grew on us so we left it as-is.
